Unequal Implementation of Child Rights Legislation – Nigeria

Summary:
This case challenges the inconsistent domestication and implementation of Nigeria’s Child Rights Act across various states, resulting in unequal protection of children depending on their place of residence.

The applicants argue that the failure to ensure nationwide implementation creates systemic disparities in access to protection and remedies, contrary to the State’s obligations under the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child.
