Michael is an accomplished international human rights lawyer and researcher with over a decade of experience in advancing justice across Africa. He brings exceptional expertise in strategic litigation before African regional courts and treaty bodies, research, advocacy, capacity building, and legislative/policy reform.

As an emerging thought leader, Michael has extensive academic publications, technical reports, and policy briefs focusing on the rule of law, human rights and governance.  He is the co-editor of  The art of human rights: Commingling art, human rights and the law in Africa (Springer, 2020); Governance, human rights and political transformation in Africa (Palgrave Macmillan/Springer, 2019); and Ghana @60: Governance and human rights in twenty-first Century Africa (Pretoria University Law Press, 2017).

He serves on the Editorial Committee of the African Human Rights Yearbook and edits AfricLaw.com. He previously served as the Manager of the Litigation and Implementation Unit at the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria.

Michael holds a Master of Science in International Human Rights Law from the University of Oxford, where he was a Commonwealth Scholar; Master of Laws in Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa from the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria, where he was a DAAD Scholar; Qualifying Certificate of Law from the Ghana School of Law; and Bachelor of Laws from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
