Honourable Justice Naceesay Salla-Wadda serves as the President of the Court of Appeal in The Gambia. In 2023, she was elected as a Commissioner in the African Union Commission on International Law (AUCIL). She holds an LLM from London Metropolitan University, obtained in 2007, and was called to the Gambian Bar in 1999.
Justice Salla-Wadda has a distinguished career within the Gambian Judiciary, serving as a High Court Judge and later as a Justice at the Court of Appeal between 2007 and August 2016. Prior to her judicial appointments, she served the Gambian Ministry of Justice from 1992 to 2006. During this tenure, she rose through several key positions, including Legal Clerk at the Attorney General’s Chambers, Public Prosecutor in the Criminal Division, State Counsel, Senior State Counsel, Principal State Counsel, and Deputy Director of Public Prosecution, eventually serving as Acting Solicitor-General and Legal Secretary.
