Folakemi is a rising second-year law student at Columbia Law School in the United States. In her academic journey, Folakemi has earned a bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and French from the University of Georgia, USA, and a Master’s degree in International Development from the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. 

Prior to her legal studies, Folakemi conducted research on the use of banned cluster munitions in the Syrian Civil War with Human Rights Watch, supported democratic governance programming in Côte d’Ivoire at the National Democratic Institute, and conducted business development for humanitarian projects at the International Rescue Committee (Somalia), as well as gender-transformative programs at ActionAid UK
