Darlene Uzoigwe is a second-year law student at Columbia Law School in the United States. She graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College, where she studied Government and Global Health & Health Policy. .
Prior to law school, Darlene worked on civic engagement and public policy initiatives in New York City, including the co-development of a youth participatory budgeting initiative that allocated pandemic relief funding through youth-led decision-making processes. She also conducted qualitative research as a Harvard Radcliffe Research Fellow on the experiences of patients, caregivers, and clinicians navigating cancer care and mental health treatment for the Collaborative Care and Community Engagement Program at the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, and co-authored an anti-racism and anti-discrimination toolkit for healthcare professionals addressing human trafficking.
Her interests include human rights, institutional accountability, and the implementation of legal and policy frameworks that protect vulnerable communities.
