Staff Retreat 2025

In November 2025, the Institute for Human Rights and Development in Africa (IHRDA) convened its End-of-Year Staff Retreat in Senegal, bringing together staff, fellows, and interns for five days of collective reflection, renewal, and strategic planning. Held at a pivotal moment in IHRDA’s institutional renewal, the retreat created a dedicated space to reconnect with our mission, values, and long-term vision. Through a blend of plenary discussions, unit reflections, and forward-looking conversations, the team assessed achievements and challenges from 2025, reviewed financial and programmatic performance, and aligned on strategic priorities for 2026 within the framework of our 2023–2027 Strategic Plan.

Designed as both a reflective and energising experience, the retreat balanced formal strategy sessions with informal team-building and wellness activities. Staff engaged in thematic discussions on positioning IHRDA for greater impact within a changing human rights landscape in Africa, while also strengthening collaboration, communication, and team culture. The retreat culminated in draft unit work plans for 2026, clear action points for follow-up, and—most importantly—a renewed sense of cohesion, motivation, and shared purpose as we move into the year ahead.
