Other than advertised positions, applications for Fellows, Interns and Volunteers are considered on a rolling basis. To apply send an email to ihrda@ihrda.org.
IHRDA offers fellowships to qualified individuals interested in contributing to human rights work in Africa.
Fellows typically stay between three months and one year, working on legal research, case preparation before regional human rights mechanisms, and contributing to programmes including publications, communications, capacity-building, and advocacy.
Subject to available funding, IHRDA may cover travel to and from The Gambia and provide a modest monthly stipend to support living expenses.
The internship programme aims to support the development of young human rights professionals, particularly from Africa.
Interns are usually students or recent graduates in law, political science, or related fields seeking practical experience. Opportunities may also be available in areas such as information technology and administration.
Internships typically last between three months and one year.
Nature of Work
Interns work under the supervision of a designated staff member. Responsibilities and expected outcomes are agreed upon prior to the start of the internship.
Funding
Interns are generally expected to cover their own travel and living expenses. In exceptional cases, IHRDA may provide support, including travel costs and a modest stipend.
IHRDA also hosts skilled and experienced professionals who wish to contribute to its work on a voluntary basis.
Volunteer opportunities may be advertised periodically or aligned with specific programme needs.
