Summary:
The River Offin separates the Ashanti and Central Regions of Ghana in Kyekyewere town. Girls living on one side of the river must cross it to attend school. However, local beliefs prohibit females from crossing on Tuesdays and during menstruation. As a result, girls miss several days of school each month.
The case alleges violations of the right to education and freedom from discrimination, arguing that the State has failed to address harmful customary practices that undermine equal access to schooling.
