Jean-Richard is a second-year BCL/JD student at McGill University’s Faculty of Law. Prior to law school, Jean-Richard earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts in History at McGill University and a Master of Arts in History from Queen’s University. At Queen’s, he studied the history of the Catholic and Protestant Churches’ involvement in the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. He explored the religious arguments that justified enslavement, as well as the ways the Churches weaponized faith against enslaved peoples. Jean-Richard has also spent formative years abroad on the African continent, in both Tunisia and Gambia.
At McGill University Law, Jean-Richard is particularly interested in human rights. He has studied constitutional law, administrative law, critical race theory, and the regulation of artificial intelligence. He has experience supporting communities through his work as a caseworker at the Legal Information Clinic at McGill. Jean-Richard enjoys jogging, traveling, retro gaming, and building computers.
