IHRDA and l’Observatoire Congolais des Droits de l’Homme (OCDH) on 22 March 2017 filed a case before the African Commission, on behalf of the family of Sylvain Banombi, against Republic of Congo concerning the torture and death of Sylvain Banombi which occurred while he was in police custody in 2008. The case had been pending before a domestic court since 2010.
