In August 2017, Arterial Network began the first regional “Artwatch Africa Response” training workshops for East African and West African lawyers, in collaboration with IHRDA. Legal Officer at IHRDA, Oludayo Fagbemi, led the workshops that aimed to improve the legal and judicial protection of, and support for, artists across Africa. This initiative comes in an age where artists rights to create and exercise their freedom of expression are increasingly under threat. Recently, Oludayo granted an interview to Arterial Network about IHRDA’s commitment to the defence of human rights, freedom of expression and the results of the first two regional workshops.
