IHRDA is inviting interested and qualified lawyers and civil society actors to apply to participate in a workshop on litigating transitional justice cases in the African human rights system. The workshop is expected to take place from 19 – 21 September 2018 in Kampala, Uganda. Participants will be trained on litigating transitional justice cases, and will collectively identify suitable cases that could be filed for litigation before suitable mechanisms in the African human rights system.
Participants must be:
- Legal practitioners who have previously litigated, or are currently litigating human rights cases at the national or regional levels; or
- Members of a human rights organization (with a legal background) whose organization is involved in human rights documentation, advocacy or litigation of cases;
- Legal practitioners/members of a human rights organization already working on transitional justice issues or cases, and/or with a keen interest to pursue litigation in this field;
- From any of the following: Sierra Leone, Liberia, Gambia, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda andRwanda.
Complete application form should be sent along with a motivation letter and a C.V. to pchabane@ihrda.org with copy to fjangana@ihrda.org by 30 April 2018. On the subject line, please indicate: “Application for IHRDA Training-KAMPALA”.
If selected, IHRDA will cover the round-trip airfare to Kampala, per diem and accommodation for the duration of the workshop.
